Therry Brunner (born September 6, 1975 in Dielsdorf ) is a Swiss freestyle snowboarder .

Career

He grew up mostly in the canton of Graubünden in the Engadine village of Zuoz . Today both Davos and Zuoz are his home. After finishing school ( Matura type B ) in 1994 he earned his living as a snowboard instructor and in the summer as a surveyor; both with the intention of snowboarding and training as much as possible. In autumn 1997, after various successes at regional and national events, he started for the first time at a World Cup in Kaunertal (10th place) and thus became a professional snowboarder.

In the following seasons he drove with great success on the ISF tour with up to 2002. The most successful years were from 2000 to 2002, in which he was honored as a World Cup silver medalist.

Since then and due to the disappearance of the ISF tour, he has mainly been on the FIS World Cup tour and the ticket-to-ride tour and has done various film projects for twofour.ch or boardsportsmedia.ch.

In addition to his great successes on the World Cup tour, a total of six World Cup victories and 13 podium places, his two Olympic participations in 2002 in Salt Lake City (13th place, final only missed by 0.3 points) and 2006 in Turin (where he was the first Swiss snowboarder to win a Triple turn in an official competition, a so-called 1080 ° made and stood), three medals in four participations in the Swiss championships (gold 1998, 1999 and bronze 2006).

In addition, he regularly worked as a moderator and commentator for various broadcasters such as SF, SAT1 Switzerland or Swiss sports television (SSF) and also for StarTV. For years he has been an integral part of the teams from Nitro Snowboards , Bollé, Toko, Audi and Davos Klosters Mountains. He has not competed in any (professional) competitions since 2008 and works in the media industry. He is now a full-time editor at the "Davoser Zeitung", moderates the SSF and "Davos Klosters TV", works as a freelance speaker at various events and trains young snowboard teams.

Since the end of July 2013, Brunner has been the trainer of the snowboard department at the Davos Sports Gymnasium.
