Lalden ( Valais German : Lalu ) is a political municipality and a civic community in the Visp district and a parish of the Visp deanery in the German-speaking part of the canton of Valais in Switzerland .

geography

Lalden is located in Upper Valais between the north bank of the Rotten (Rhône) and the old Lötschberg south ramp . The community borders in the north on Eggerberg , in the northeast on Naters , in the east on Brig-Glis , in the south on Visp and in the west on Baltschieder .

history

The community was first mentioned in 1218 under the name Laudona . Lalden has been documented since 1540 . Lalden belonged to the Visp des Zehnden Visp district.

In the 1960s, the Lonza Group settled in Lalden.
