Theudoald
Theudoald , also Theodald , lat. Theudoaldus (* 708 ; † probably 715 ) was an illegitimate son of Grimoald the Younger , Hausmeier von Neustria (714/715 - September 26, 715), and an unknown woman. He is a great-great-grandson of Arnulf von Metz .
His father was murdered in 714. When his grandfather Pippin the Middle was dying at the end of the same year, his wife Plektrud persuaded him to appoint their young grandson Theudoald instead of one of Pippin's illegitimate sons, Childebrand and Karl , as his successor as house manager. Pippin accepted, weakened by the illness, so that the six-year-old Theudoald held the office of caretaker for a short time 714/715. In the struggle for power, Plektrud lost in 717 to her stepson Karl Martell. Theudoald's whereabouts are uncertain, it is also possible that he perished after his fall in 715. Nothing is known about marriage or offspring; probably also very unlikely.
