Thiel (model railroad)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Thiel is a manufacturer of model railway accessories in Murr near Ludwigsburg , which primarily produces a 45 mm track system for the IIm and 1 gauge . The tracks are specially designed for use in outdoor facilities, so-called garden railways .

The track is known among garden railroaders as an alternative or supplement to tracks from LGB or AristoCraft . This applies in particular to rail profiles made of nickel-plated brass, which are offered in addition to those made of bare brass for the entire track system. The rail connectors that can be screwed to the side of the profiles are also considered advantageous, for which all track construction elements are also available with pre-drilled profiles.

In addition to compatibility with LGB tracks (Code 335), the track system is characterized by eleven radii for curved tracks and a variety of switches and crossings. Drives from Böhler are used for the electrical control of the points. In addition to rigid prefabricated tracks, flexible tracks and do-it-yourself tracks are also available.
