Sulfur Mountain top station |
The Sulfur Mountain is a mountain in Banff National Park in the Canadian province of Alberta . The 2451 m high mountain belongs to the Front Ranges , a sub-chain of the Continentel Ranges , the Canadian Rocky Mountains . The top of the mountain offers a good view of the northern village of Banff , with the eastern part of the community being hidden by Tunnel Mountain .
A cable car has been running up the mountain since 1959, originally a system based on the Bell / Wallmannsberger system . There is also a footpath from the parking lot at the valley station of the cable car to the summit station.
At the summit, a path secured with stairs and railings leads to a small hut that was previously used as a weather observation point.
