Thila's trainer was Rheinhold Vaas. Thilia won his first race in October 1956 with the Junior Prize in Düsseldorf. In 1957 Thila had her successful year in Germany with victories in the Diana Prize , Black Gold Race , German Mare Prize , Aral Cup , Prize of Industry and Economy and in France at the Prix du Conseil Municipal . She was mostly ridden by Jupp van der Vlugt or Alfred Lommatzsch as a jockey.
In 1958 she was sold to France and ran there until 1959. As a broodmare she was not particularly successful.
Thilia was voted first horse of the year in 1957.
