ThinkCentre

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

ThinkCentre is a series of microcomputers that were launched by IBM in 2003 primarily for large companies and have been offered by the Chinese manufacturer Lenovo since 2005 .

The stationary ThinkCentre, the counterpart to the portable ThinkPad , was developed in 2003 to support IBM NetVista (a software suite that was introduced in April 1996 as a client-server suite; the server software ran under OS / 2 , the client Software under Windows 3.1 and Windows 95 ). After IBM sold the PC division in 2005, the ThinkCentre and ThinkPad devices are now manufactured by Lenovo.

Most ThinkCentres come in the ThinkVantage design . According to the manufacturer, this forms “a harmonious balance of form and function and thus ensures more comfortable, more intuitive and easier operation”. These devices have what is known as a ThinkCentre UltraNav keyboard .

These special, usually with USB equipped terminal, external keyboards have next to function keys and numeric keypad both TrackPoint and UltraNav that either alone, together, or not at all (externally connected mouse ) can be used, similar to the well in the internal keyboards of most ThinkPads is the case. The TrackPoint is a small red pen that is embedded in the middle of the keyboard - between the b, g and h keys. It is possible to move the cursor with the index or middle finger in the ten-finger position and to operate the "mouse" buttons with the thumbs. The UltraNav cursor control is comparable to a touchpad . It has special buttons (comparable to those of the TrackPoint). Up to four applications or websites can be accessed directly by touching the corners of the UltraNav.
