Background and production

Daði Freyr already took part in the Söngvakeppnin 2017, where he was entitled Is This Love? ( Icelandic Hvað Með Það? ) took second place behind Svala Björgvinsdóttir .

On January 18, 2020, his entry was presented along with the other competition participants. In the second semifinals of the Söngvakeppnin 2020 on February 15, he qualified for the final on February 29. In this he was able to combine the highest number of points from the jury and televoting in the first round, as well as the most callers in the superfinal, which made him the winner of the event.

He wrote and produced the title alone. The recordings took place in Berlin. His wife Árný Fjóla Ásmundsdóttir played the keyboard , the backing vocals came from his two sisters.

Content

Daði Freyr wrote the Icelandic version solely on the basis of the RÚV regulations. The English version is the original. The title is dedicated to his little daughter, who was born the year before. It is about the feeling that exists in the first days and weeks when you notice that you love this person with all your hearts, even though you have not yet communicated much with each other. At first his daughter didn't do very much, which is why he was interested in what she thought about everything. In the meantime, the text is no longer applicable, as she shows her parents what she thinks as she gets older.

The title begins with an intro followed by the first verse and the chorus. After the second verse and the chorus, the bridge follows before the chorus is sung again at the end.

Music video

The director of the music video was Guðný Rós Þórhallsdóttir. The camerawoman was Birtu Rán Björgvinsdóttur. The original idea for the video came from Daði Freyr himself.

At the Eurovision Song Contest
