Creation of the album

According to McDonald, the production of this album happened purely by chance: in 1969 he recorded his planned first solo album Tonight I'm Singing Just for You , a country and western album, in Nashville . The musicians were so good that the recordings did not take three days as planned, but were finished in a day and a half. However, the three days had already been paid for in advance. It was then decided to produce a Woody Guthrie album. The album was released three months before the planned debut album.
