Third Mainland Bridge

The Third Mainland Bridge (dt. Third Mainland Bridge ) is a bridge in the Nigerian city of Lagos .

Like the Carter Bridge and the Eko Bridge, it connects the city center of Lagos Island and the neighboring financial and government centers of Ikoyi and Victoria Island with the northern mainland, where Lagos International Airport is also located. The Third Mainland Bridge is the longest of the three bridges with a length of 10.5 km. It leads, starting from the northern end of Lagos Island, over the lagoon of Lagos to the north and after several kilometers in a westerly direction to the expressway Lagos - Ibadan .

The Third Mainland Bridge was built in 1990 to relieve the traffic network of the metropolis. The heavy traffic between the city center and the mainland still leads to traffic jams every day . Recently there have been reports of the bridge swaying, which could indicate a state of disrepair.
