Eko Bridge

The Eko Bridge (English Eko Bridge ) is a bridge in the Nigerian city of Lagos .

The Eko Bridge connects downtown Lagos Island and the neighboring financial and government centers Ikoyi and Victoria Island across the Lagos lagoon with the districts of Apapa and Surulere on the northern mainland. To the east of the Eko Bridge, the Third Mainland Bridge and the Carter Bridge run roughly in the same direction . The Eko Bridge is the shortest of the three bridges - with its extensions in the countryside, it is 1350 m long, the middle section extends over a distance of 430 m. The span of the V-shaped bridge piers is 60 m.

The prestressed concrete bridge was built by the German construction company Julius Berger Nigeria PLC in three phases between 1965 and 1975. Eko was the native name of Lagos before Portuguese sailors landed on the coast in 1472.
