Apapa is one of the 20 Local Government Areas (LGA) in the Nigerian state of Lagos . It is the port area of ​​the city of Lagos .

Apapa is west of Lagos Island on the opposite side of Lagos Harbor . The LGA has an area of ​​26.66 km² and borders Ajeromi-Ifelodun , Surulere and Lagos Mainland . The last census in 2006 counted 222,986 inhabitants, in Apapa there were 8,364 inhabitants per km².

Apapa is home to a container port owned by the Danish company AP Møller-Mærsk , valued at over one billion US dollars.
