Thomas Carolus (Thom) de Graaf (born June 11, 1957 in Amsterdam ) is a Dutch politician of the Democrats 66 (D66).

Life

De Graaf studied law at the Radboud University Nijmegen .

From 1990 to 1994 he was a member of the Leiden parish council .

From 1994 to 2003 he was a member of the Second Chamber of the States General . From 1998 to 2003 he was also party leader of the Democrats 66 .

From May 27, 2003 to March 23, 2005 he was Minister for Government Reform and Kingdom Relations and also Deputy Prime Minister of the Netherlands.

From 2007 to 2012 De Graaf was mayor of Nijmegen .

Since 2011 he has been a member of the First Chamber of the States General , and since 2015 he has also been chairman of the parliamentary group. He is Vice President of the Council of State ( Raad van State ).

Thom de Graaf has been married since September 15, 1981.
