Thomas Brandt (biologist)

Thomas Brandt (* 1964 ) is a German biologist and scientific director of the Steinhuder Meer ecological protection station .

Life

Brandt studied biology at the University of Osnabrück and completed an engineering degree in ecological environmental protection in Kassel . Since 1994 he has been employed as scientific director at the ecological protection station Steinhuder Meer . Among other things, he is responsible there for the inventory of animals and plants as well as for the development and implementation of protection concepts.

Brandt is the author of several non-fiction books and articles on natural topics and has been working on a voluntary basis for the Naturschutzbund since the 1980s. Since 2001 he has been a member of the editorial team of the ornithological magazine Der Falke . Since 2009 he has also been a member of the editorial team of the ornithological reports from Lower Saxony. In 2012, the Lower Saxony BINGO Environment Foundation awarded T. Brandt the “Lower Saxony Environment Prize 2012” for a journalistic contribution in the environmental sector.
