Thomas Bremer

Thomas Bremer (born November 14, 1957 in Essen ) is a Roman Catholic theologian .

Life

Bremer studied Roman Catholic theology, Slavic and Classical Philology at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich , the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster and in Belgrade. After that, he was a research associate at the Ecumenical Institute of the University of Munster and was established in 1990 with a thesis Ecclesial structure and ecclesiology in the Serbian Orthodox Church in the 19th and 20th centuries for Dr. theol. PhD.

From 1995 to 1999 he was managing director of the German Society for Eastern European Customers in Berlin. Since 1999, Bremen has been Professor of Eastern Church Studies and Ecumenical Theology at the Institute for Ecumenics and Peace Research at the University of Münster. From 2011 to 2012 he was a fellow at the Imre Kertész Kolleg at the Friedrich Schiller University in Jena . His research interests include the Christian Orthodox Churches in Eastern Europe. Bremer has been the editor of the theological journal Theologische Revue since 2009 . He is co-editor of the magazine Una Sancta - magazine for ecumenical encounter . He is a signatory of the memorandum “ Church 2011: A Necessary Awakening ”.
