Thomas Ferrers

Sir Thomas Ferrers († January 6, 1459 ) was an English knight. He was the progenitor of the Ferrers of Tamworth family .

Thomas Ferrers was the second son of William Ferrers, 5th Baron Ferrers of Groby and his first wife Philippa Clifford. His father died in 1445. Since Thomas's older brother Henry had already died, his daughter Elizabeth inherited the title of Baroness Ferrers of Groby . Thomas, on the other hand, had already administered a smaller part of his father's property in 1436, which he inherited after his father's death. From these he received an annual income of £ 100 in 1436.

In 1423 Thomas Ferrers married Elizabeth de Frevile , a sister of Sir Baldwin de Frevile . After her only brother died as a child, she became one of her father's heiresses, so Ferrers acquired Tamworth Castle in Warwickshire .
