Thomas Feser

Thomas Feser (born March 7, 1965 in Gau-Algesheim ) is a German politician of the Christian Democratic Union of Germany . On April 22, 2012, he was elected Lord Mayor of the city of Bingen. He won with a result of 51.8% over his competitor Michael Hüttner (SPD), who received 44.5% of the votes. Between 2004 and 2012 Thomas Feser was already mayor of the city of Bingen am Rhein and department head for schools, youth, social affairs, municipal building authority, environment, urban redevelopment including redevelopment planning and town twinning (department II).

Life

Thomas Feser grew up in a family of winemakers in Ockenheim .

Feser, who was fascinated by Christian social teaching at a young age , completed a degree in social education. From 1990 to 1992 he was managing director of the CDU district associations in Mainz and Mainz-Bingen. From 1999 to 2004 he worked as an honorary district member and thus deputy district administrator of the Mainz-Bingen district with district administrator Claus Schick . From 2004 to 2009 Feser was first full-time, then part-time managing director at “BIG - das Magazin”. During this time he further developed the magazine into today's "Rheinland-Pfalz- & Rheingau-Magazin".

As the successor to Birgit Collin-Langen , who has been a member of the European Parliament since March 2012 , he exercised the right of representation for the Lord Mayor until his inauguration as the new Lord Mayor. Feser also ran as a candidate for this election. In the election on April 22, 2012, he prevailed with 51.8% against the second place with 44.5%, MdL Michael Hüttner from the SPD . The turnout was 50.3%.

In November 2019, Feser took up another term. In the first ballot on November 10th, he was the strongest candidate with 46.9% and again ran against Michael Hüttner in the runoff election on November 24th. He prevailed in the runoff election with 51.4% and thus remains Lord Mayor.
