Michael Hüttner (born June 28, 1959 in Oberwesel-Dellhofen ) is a German politician ( SPD ) and has been a member of the Rhineland-Palatinate state parliament since 2006 .

Hüttner graduated from secondary school in 1976 and then began an apprenticeship as a draftsman, which he broke off in 1977 to begin training with the police in Enkenbach-Alsenborn . From 1980 to 1997 he worked for the Bingen am Rhein police force . Hüttner worked as a detective in Mainz from 1997 until he took up his state parliament mandate in 2006.

Hüttner has been a member of the SPD since 1987. From 1989 to 1997 he was a member of the city ​​council in Bingen and since 1990 also managing director of the city council group. From 1997 to 2009 he was an alderman of the city of Bingen u. a. with responsibilities for sport and the public order office (1997–2009), tourism (1997–2004) and forestry (2004–2009). He has been a member of the city council again since 2009, where he was deputy parliamentary group leader from 2009–2014 and has since been (since 2014) chairman of the parliamentary group. In addition, from 2009 to 2017 he was chairman of the SPD city association of Bingen. Since May 18, 2006, Hüttner has been a member of the Rhineland-Palatinate state parliament for the constituency of Bingen (constituency 29). He won the direct mandate in the state elections in 2006, 2011 and 2016. He is the chairman of the interior committee and a member of the environmental committee. He is currently the spokesman for the SPD parliamentary group on the topics of sport and right-wing extremism. He is the deputy spokesman for domestic affairs and also heads the sport working group. He was a candidate for the SPD for the mayoral election of the city of Bingen on April 22, 2012. He received 44.5% of the votes and was defeated by his competitor Thomas Feser (CDU), who won with a result of 51.8%. In the next Mayor election in Bingen in 2019, Hüttner ran again for the SPD and again reached the runoff election, which took place on November 24th. Here Hüttner won 48.6 percent of the votes cast and was therefore defeated by the incumbent Feser.

From 2004–2009 he was alternately chairman of the supervisory board and the special purpose association of the Rheinwelle regional pool and was jointly responsible for the construction of the Rheinwelle. Since 2006 he has been a member of the board of the Rhineland-Palatinate Association of Municipalities and Cities. Since 2006 he has been a member of the Board of Trustees of the Technical University of Bingen. Since 2010 he has been Vice President of the Rheinhessischer Turnerbund. Since 2011 he has been a member of the state sports conference. Since 2011 he has also been a member of the PDAcert impartiality committee. Since 2011 he has also been the patron of the DMSG Group Bingen-Ingelheim. Since 2012 he has been a member of the Board of Trustees of the Fridtjof Nansen Academy for Civic Education at the Ingelheim Training Center .
