history

Finds and excavations of wall remains, such as a consecration stone of Mercurius and Maia , prove the existence of a Roman temple district from around 110 AD. The first settlement is believed to have been in the Carolingian era , as a Roman road from Bingen am Rhein to Koblenz , which was still in use in the Middle Ages, passed over the heights nearby.

Dellhofen had been owned by the St. Martin Monastery since the 13th century and later belonged to the Liebfrauenstift . After the Wesel War in 1390/91, Archbishop Werner von Falkenstein of Trier had the fortifications of the place destroyed.

Wonderfully country belonged to the village by the end of the 18th century to the Electorate of Trier and the management of the shelter office Oberwesel . In 1787 the place had 185 inhabitants.

On April 3, 1973, the local council decided to incorporate it into the city of Oberwesel, which became effective on March 17, 1974.

politics

Dellhofen is designated as a local district and therefore has a local advisory board and a local councilor . The local council consists of seven local council members who were elected by majority vote in the local elections on May 26, 2019 . The mayor, Kurt Renzler (CDU), was elected in the local elections with a share of the vote of 87.09% and is the successor to Wilhelm Zimmermann, who was no longer running.
