Thomas Gottstein

Thomas Patrick Gottstein (* 1964 ; resident in Rüschlikon ) is a Swiss bank manager and Chairman of the Executive Board ( Group CEO ) of Credit Suisse . He succeeded Tidjane Thiam on February 14, 2020 .

Life

Thomas Gottstein's father Fritz Gottstein was the owner of the Meteor AG machine factory. In his youth, Thomas Gottstein was a Swiss junior champion in golf and won the European junior team, but decided against a career as a professional athlete. He studied business administration and economics at the University of Zurich and graduated in 1989 with a licentiate . In 1995 he received his doctorate there in finance and accounting . He then worked for UBS .

In 1999, he switched to investment banking at Credit Suisse . In 2016 he was promoted to head of the bank's Swiss division. On February 7, 2020, it was announced that Gottstein will be the new managing director of the bank.

Thomas Gottstein is married and has two children.
