Thomas Kurfeß (born April 11, 1962 in Blaustein ) is a German table tennis player . He is a multiple world champion and gold medalist at Paralympics .

Style of play

Kurfeß is damaged by thalidomide, and his arms are affected. He is unable to hit with the backhand. This forces him to work a lot. He is right handed.

As a student, Kurfuß began playing table tennis. He played in the club SV Mähringen in a non-disabled team (district league) and in the club TSG Söflingen at events for the disabled. Soon there were successes on a national and international level.

In 2003 he joined the TSV 1899 Blaustein club.

At the national German championships for the disabled, he won numerous medals, including eight championships in doubles with Rainer Schmidt (1987, 1989, 1991-1996).
