Thomas Neukirchen (political scientist)

Thomas Neukirchen (* 1968 in New York City , United States ) is a German political scientist and founder and partner of the fundraising consultancy Fundgiver Social Marketing GmbH in Hamburg , with a focus on market research and customer orientation.

Life

Neukirchen grew up in Germany , the USA , Brazil and Portugal . He first studied law (basic studies at the University of Passau and University of Kiel ) and then political science and journalism at the University of Hamburg and Universidade Nova de Lisboa ( ERASMUS scholarship holder ). After graduating with a degree in political science in 1997, he and a colleague founded the uniconcepts agency, which specializes in university fundraising, and is considered one of the pioneers in this field. After selling the agency seven years later, he worked for another fundraising consultancy, which he gradually took over and sold another seven years later to the market leader in fundraising, GFS Fundraising Solutions GmbH, where he temporarily worked as an authorized signatory. In 2014 he founded the current agency Fundgiver, of which he is the sole managing director to this day.

Neukirchen has been a lecturer since 2005, primarily for fundraising, at the German Foundation Academy (since 2014), the Fundraising Academy (since 2008), the Ludwigshafen University of Economics and Society (since 2017), and the University of Hamburg (winter semester 2017/18 and WS 2018/19) and the FOM - University of Economics and Management (2013). Since 2019 he has been an honorary professor at the Karlsruhe University of Music .

Neukirchen designed and presented industry studies, including a. via CRM systems , labor market fundraising, fundraising 2030 and large donation fundraising. He is a speaker at national specialist congresses: German Fundraising Congress, Austrian Fundraising Congress, Swiss Fundraising Day and various regional fundraising days.

Volunteering

Neukirchen has been a volunteer member of the German Fundraising Association for over 10 years, in the following position:

  • Elected member of the arbitration commission
  • Appointed member of the ethics committee
  • Elected member of the board
  • Appointed member of the jury of the German Fundraising Prize

Thomas Neukirchen is an ambassador for the non-profit foundation steps for children , which offers 1,500 disadvantaged children and young people in Namibia and Zimbabwe educational opportunities and founds smaller companies for sustainable financing, 100% of which goes to children's aid projects.
