Thomas Rösser (* 1973 in Marburg ) is a German media scientist, screenwriter, director and producer.

Life

Rösser comes from the Hessian university town of Marburg / Lahn and studied modern German literature and media at the Philipps University of Marburg . He completed his doctorate with the title “Pictures for hearing. A collaboration between Alfred Hitchcock and the composer Bernard Herrmann “in 2013 at Karl Prümm , in which all the films in this collaboration were analyzed specifically with regard to the film music. From 2005 to 2011 Rösser held lectureships in the field of media studies in the field of film and film music. In addition to various short films, image and music videos, he produced, among other things, the nationwide cinema spot for the campaign “Violence, Seeing, Helping” in cooperation with the University City of Marburg, the Philipps University of Marburg and the Hessian Ministry of the Interior. Film Streiflicht

While he was still doing his doctorate, Rösser produced the cinema thriller Streiflicht with his own financial means , starring Heike Ulrich and Tess Wiley , among others . After more than nine years, the debut film celebrated its successful premiere on November 10, 2017 in the Cineplex cinema in Marburg. Since then, the independent film, which is about a mysterious painting, has enjoyed growing popularity and continues to be shown both in Marburg (over 6 weeks) and in other German and European cities. A special feature of the film is its classic, theme-based film music, which was created by the composer Markus Metzler (Muxmäuschenstill) and recorded in 59 individual pieces with a symphony orchestra. For this the film won bronze at the European Independent Film Awards (THE EiFA). Streiflicht was dubbed in the press as a psychological thriller à la Hitchcock. He has also been nominated several times at European film festivals (Wolves Independent International Film Awards 2016, Indie Film Festival 2016, The Monkey Bread Tree Film Awards 2016, Move Me Productions Festival 2016 and semi-finalist at the German United Film Festival 2018) and won the Spotlight Award at the European Elevation indie Film Awards 2017.

Thomas Rösser is currently working on the script for his second film, "The Yellow Ballon".
