Thomas Robel

Thomas Robel (born November 22, 1985 in Hoyerswerda ) is a former German rally driver . His previous successes include overall victory in the 2008 German Rally Series . Henry Wichura has been his co-driver since 2007 .

Career

Thomas Robel began his career in rallying in 2004 on a Opel Kadett GSi of the group G . With this vehicle he was able to celebrate several class and group victories at various Rallye 200 events and in 2006 took second place in the DMSB Rallye Pokal Region East . A year later Robel began his involvement in the German Rally Series . He was the winner of the junior classification and finished the season seventh overall. In the 2008 season Robel achieved the greatest success of his career so far with a Honda Integra Type-R . Since the championship leader up to this point had to cancel the penultimate rally, Robel took over the top of the table. He did not give up this at the decisive rally and he won the championship. At the same time he successfully defended his title as junior champion. In 2009 Thomas Robel achieved 12th place overall in the DRS classification with a Honda Integra . He was able to successfully defend his junior title. In the 2009 season, Thomas Robel's team also initially fielded a Subaru Impreza Diesel in the HJS Diesel Rally Masters . After completing two runs, Robel switched to a VW Golf V TDI . In 2010 Robel will be competing in both championships with this vehicle. Thomas Robel finished the 2010 season as winner in the ADAC Rallye Junior Cup and runner-up in the HJS Diesel Rallye Masters.

Private

Thomas Robel lives with his family in Laubusch and works as a construction mechanic . His role models include Ellen Lohr and Matthias Kahle .
