Thomas Schubert (political scientist)

Thomas Schubert (* 1979 in Hartmannsdorf near Chemnitz ) is a German political scientist .

Life

Schubert studied politics and economics at the TU Chemnitz from 1999 to 2004 . Afterwards he received a scholarship from the Hanns Seidel Foundation and in 2009 he was given the doctoral thesis Convergence or Divergence in the Saxon State Election Campaign with Eckhard Jesse . A qualitative longitudinal analysis of the state election campaigns of the CDU, SPD and PDS from 1990 to 2004 - with special consideration of the economic-political thematic election campaign for Dr. phil. PhD.

Since 2014 he has been a research assistant to the Managing Director at the Institute for Political Science. He is u. a. Member of the German Society for Political Science and the Society for Research on Germany. His main research interests are electoral, political, democratic and extremism research . He published u. a. in the yearbook Extremism & Democracy .
