Wooden epitaph in Trausnitz

Thomas von Sparneck (* 1554 , † 1610 ) was a knight from the von Sparneck family .

Thomas came from the Weißdorfer line of Sparnecker, which was last wealthy in today's Upper Palatinate. His father was Sebastian von Sparneck, his mother Margarethe, née von Erlbeck . Thomas was married twice, first to Euphemia von Taufkirchen , and second to Anna von Brandt . Of the eight children depicted on the wooden epitaph, only two sons and a daughter have reached adulthood and survived the father.

In addition to the remaining possessions in the former heartland of the Sparnecker, which in its heyday corresponded to the former district of Münchberg , Thomas was also wealthy in today's Upper Palatinate. He was sitting at Trausnitz Castle in the valley .
