Thomson TO7
The Thomson TO7 was a home computer from France that was not widely used in Germany . It was introduced as the first computer by Thomson in November 1982. The abbreviation TO stands for "Télé-Ordinateur" (German television computer).
General
A special feature of the TO7 is a light pen , which is stowed under a small flap above the keyboard. It was supported by the operating system and numerous applications - the computer's start-up menu could already be operated with the stylus. This native support of the light pen was the hallmark of subsequent computer systems from Thomson. The TO7 is also equipped with a membrane keyboard , with which, however, a high typing speed cannot be achieved - every stroke is also accompanied by a short acoustic signal ( beep ). To the left of the keyboard there is a slot for plug-in modules, protected by a flap . There are three at the back system - as well as a memory - interface . The TO7 does not have an integrated BASIC system. This was supplied on a plug-in module from Microsoft . In June 1984 the TO7 was replaced by its successor, the TO7-70 . A floppy disk drive and a cassette recorder were offered for external storage .
