The film introduces Millie Millie 's views of modern life with Thoroughly Modern . Everything is faster, freer and more jazzy than before. After all, it's 1922!
The song is also used in the 2002 musical of the same name . It was sung by Sutton Foster in the original line-up .
Awards
Thoroughly Modern Millie was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Song in 1968 , but lost to Talk to the Animals from Doctor Dolittle . The song was also nominated for the Golden Globe in the category of best movie song and lost to If I Ever Should Leave You from Camelot - At the court of King Arthur .
