Thorsten Böckler

Thorsten Böckler (born February 24, 1977 in Bad Dürkheim ) is a former German hockey player .

Böckler began his career as a Bundesliga player with admission to the first men's team of Dürkheimer Hockey Club (DHC) in 1994. He won the 1995 German championship of the A-youth and four consecutive titles from 1997 to 2000 in the German championship in indoor hockey . In 2005 another championship in indoor hockey was added.

He also won the 1996 UEFA Cup Winners' Cup and 2000, 2001, 2006 the European Cup . Böckler made 25 international appearances for Germany and was in the top 10 goalscorer list of the 1st Bundesliga for many years. In 2003 he suffered a serious knee injury, which indicated an early retirement. After several operations and long rehabilitation, Böckler came back in the 2004/2005 field season and won the German Indoor Hockey Championship in 2005 with the decisive goal he scored for 7-6 against Harvestehuder THC . He was also able to successfully complete the subsequent European Cup as the top scorer in his team. After increasing problems and pain in both knees, he finally resigned from the 1st men's team and competitive sports in 2011.
