The Thurgau train , formerly the Thurgau pendulum train, is a nostalgic and excursion train, consisting of the ABDe 4/4 No. 12 "Weinfelden" multiple unit of the former Mittel-Thurgau-Bahn (MThB) and the BDt 205 control car operated by the Verein Historische Mittel-Thurgau-Bahn is used for charter and excursion trips. The composition is on display and off together with other historical vehicles owned by the association in the “Locorama” railway adventure world in Romanshorn.

Today's composition

The EAV railcar ABDe 4/4 No. 12 is an original vehicle of the former MThB of the first electric generation, which was put into service in 1965 with the electrification of the MThB line Wil – Weinfelden – Kreuzlingen – Konstanz. After the vehicle had already had an eventful history at the MThB, was floated again after an accident in 1993 and was finally used in cross-border traffic to Singen, among other things, after the final liquidation of the former MThB, the Thurbo railway company left the railcars to the association Historic Central Thurgau Railway . He was already in charge of the “ Most India Express ” and other vehicles from the former Thurgau Railway.

After volunteering and sponsoring by various companies, it was possible in the years 2007 to 2011 to get the railcar running again and to equip it with the safety devices necessary for use throughout Switzerland. The paintwork was done in the colors of the original delivery condition. When looking for an available control car, they struck gold with the BDt 205 from BLS (formerly SBB , built in 1976, SWG-P, FFA, SIG). This car was restored and painted at the same time and now forms an operational unit with the railcar. In total, groups of up to 99 people can be transported, twelve of whom are in 1st class of the railcar. The interior of the railcar was completely refurbished in April 2015 by Industriewerk Olten (fresh upholstery and sun blinds) and on May 2, 2015, the train presented itself for the first time with Thurgauer on the 50th anniversary of the electrification of the former MThB route in 1965 Coat of arms on the front.
