history

On February 1, 1903, the bank of the Schötmar Advance Payment Association opened its business. In keeping with Hermann Schulze-Delitzsch's concept of a cooperative , the members of the advance payment associations (Volksbanks) were both customers and providers of the banking business. They were jointly liable and also shared the profit. The customers mainly included craftsmen and tradespeople.

In 1957 the bank opened its first branch in Bad Salzuflen. In 1973 the bank already had 8 branches. In the course of its 75th anniversary in 1978, the name was changed from "Volksbank Schötmar eG" to today's "Volksbank Bad Salzuflen eG".

In 1983 the main office moved into its new domicile on the market square in Bad Salzuflen-Schötmar.
