The ThyssenKrupp Metallurgie GmbH (short: tkmet ) is a German industrial and trading companies with a turnover of 1.5 billion (2009/2010) a market leader in Europe for the trading of metallurgical ( metallurgy ) products. ThyssenKrupp Metallurgie is a legally independent company within the ThyssenKrupp AG group .

ThyssenKrupp Metallurgie GmbH is assigned to the "Materials Services" business area within the group structure and to the "Special Services" operating unit within this.

history

Headquarters in Essen Origins and predecessor companies have their roots in the Krupp, Hoesch, Thyssen and Klöckner groups well into the 1960s. Today's TKMet was created through mergers of the parent companies and reorganization of the group structures.

As part of the merger of Fried. Krupp AG with Hoesch AG to form Fried. Krupp AG Hoesch-Krupp also merged in 1996 the raw materials trading company Hansa Rohstoffe GmbH (Krupp) and Eisenmetall Legierungen GmbH (Hoesch) to form Eisenmetall Legierungen GmbH (Krupp-Hoesch).

In March 1999 the new group Thyssen Krupp AG (today ThyssenKrupp AG) was formed from the merger of the Thyssen AG and Fried. Krupp AG Hoesch-Krupp registered. The current company was created in August 2001 through the merger of "Eisenmetall Legierungen GmbH" (Krupp-Hoesch) with "Thyssen Sonnenberg Metallurgie GmbH" (Thyssen) to form "ThyssenKrupp Metallurgie GmbH"
