Tiara Brown (* 1988 ) is an American boxer . In 2012 she became world champion in the weight class up to 57 kg body weight (featherweight)

Career

Tiara Brown is from Fort Myers, Florida . She also attended high school there, where she started boxing in 2001 at the age of 13. She belongs to the boxing club Headbangers Fort Myers and is trained by Barry Hunter and Patrice Harris. She visits z. Currently at Columbus State University, but boxing is her main occupation.

In 2009 she took part in the US women's championship for the first time and reached the lightweight (up to 60 kg body weight) final, in which she was defeated by Patricia Manuel on points (4:14). In 2010 she met Patricia Manuel in the round of 16 at this championship and was defeated again on points (9:23). That is why she only came in 9th place this year. At the US National Golden Gloves 2010 she defeated the lightweight Mikael Mayer on points (3: 2 judges 'votes), but lost in the semifinals to Stephanie Han on points (0: 5 judges' votes). Therefore she finished 3rd in this tournament.

In 2011, Tiara Brown pushed back to the final of the lightweight at the US championship, in which she lost against Queen Underwood just on points (21:23). In 2012 women's boxing became Olympic for the first time, but only in three weight classes. The lightweight was one of them. Tiara Brown therefore tried in February 2012 in Spokane to fight for a starting place for the Olympic Games in London. She won there over Patricia Manuel on points (18:13), but then lost to N'yteeyah Sherman on points (24:32). The regulations of this qualifying tournament stipulated that defeated female boxers could still qualify. The fight against Bertha Aracil, which she won with 12:11 points, and the fight against Mikaela Mayer, whom she lost with 18:23 points and thus finally eliminated from the circle of Olympic aspirants, served this purpose.

At the USA Championship 2012 Tiara Brown then started a weight class lower, in featherweight and she was won with wins over Kimberly Stowe (without a fight), Heather Hardy (37:12), Kristie Simmons (21: 9) and Rashida Elles (20:17 ) first American champion. As a result, she was used in the Pan American Championship in Cornwall / Canada in featherweight. She won there over Edelma Jeffrey, STL, by breaking off in the 3rd round and over Melissa Guillemette, Mexico (20:18) and Leonela Sanchez, Argentina (15:11) on points and thus became Pan-American Champion. In May 2012, she also started at the women's world championship in Qinhuangdao, China, where she won points over Mandakini Chanu, India (21:16), Qin Jiang, China (23:22), Swetlana Kamenowa, Bulgaria (22:14) and Sandra Kruk , Poland (24:21) the world featherweight title.

In 2013 she was again at the start of the USA lightweight championship. She won there in the semifinals over Mikaela Mayer with 2-1 judges' votes and was defeated in the final against Queen Underwood with the same result.

At the Pan American Championships in Guadalajara in 2014 , Brown won a silver medal, defeating the Brazilian Tayna Cardoso 2-1 in the final . In the same year she started at the World Championships in Jeju-si . Here she fought her way after victories over Aneta Rygielska, Poland (2: 1), Svetlana Kamenova, Bulgaria (3: 0), and Wen-Ling Chen, People's Republic of China (2: 1), and a semi-final defeat against the later silver medalist Nesty Petecio , Philippines (3-0), the bronze medal.
