Tibor Kincses

Tibor Kincses (born February 12, 1960 in Kecskemét ) is a former Hungarian judoka . He won an Olympic bronze medal in 1980.

Career

The 1.67 m tall Kincses from the Kecskemét Sport Club came third in the 1980 Hungaria Cup in Pécs and the Dutch Open in Kerkrade in the super light weight category up to 60 kilograms. At the 1980 Olympic Games , he won the first round against Ali Heidar Ali Mohammad from Kuwait by Ippon after 3:19 minutes. In his second fight he defeated the Brazilian Luis Shinohara by punishing his opponent and in the quarterfinals he got ahead against the North Korean Ko hyong by a referee decision. In the semifinals he lost to Cuban José Rodríguez by Ippon after 51 seconds. In the hope round, he defeated the British John Holliday by punishment and received a bronze medal.

At the European Championships in 1981 in front of a home crowd in Debrecen, Kincses took fifth place. Three months later at the 1981 World Championships in Maastricht, he first defeated Boubacar Sow from Senegal and in the round of 16 against the Dutchman Rob Hoogendijk . In the quarterfinals he lost to Pavel Petřikov from Czechoslovakia. After a defeat in the hope round against Eric Maurel from France , Kincses was eliminated and finished in seventh place. In 1984 Kincses finished third again at the Dutch Open in Kerkrade, but this time in the half-light weight, the weight class up to 65 kilograms.
