José Rodríguez (Judoka)
José Rafael Rodríguez Carbonell (born March 28, 1959 ) is a former Cuban judoka . He won an Olympic silver medal in 1980.
The 1.61 m tall Rodríguez competed in the super lightweight throughout his career. In this weight class he was from 1977 to 1980 and from 1982 to 1987 Cuban champion.
Rodríguez won his first four fights at the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow by Ippon and then lost to the French Thierry Rey in the final by a coca rating. In August 1983 he won the final of the Pan American Games against Luiz Shinohara from Brazil. At the World Championships in Moscow two months later he won three fights and lost to the Hungarian Tamás Bujkó and the Japanese Ken'ichi Haraguchi , in the end Rodríguez finished fifth. In 1984 he lost to Luiz Shinohara in the final of the Pan American Championships. At the Pan American Games in 1987 , the Cuban won another bronze medal.
