Erwin Kobbert

Erwin Kobbert (* 1909 in Berlin ; † 1969 ) was a German sculptor .

Life

Kobbert was born in Berlin-Friedrichshain . He learned wood carving from Hermann Feuerhahn , in 1939 he switched to stone carving. He worked there until the destruction of the studio (Märkisches Ufer 10 in Berlin C 2) in 1944.

After the Second World War he worked on the Soviet memorial in Berlin-Treptow . His studio was in Biesdorf Castle between 1954 and 1958 and then in a former farmhouse in Berlin-Biesdorf . During these years Kobbert lived in Berlin-Mahlsdorf , Frettchenweg 32. In 1961 he left the GDR .

    official name of the 2.20 m high limestone sculpture at its inauguration was a memorial stone for the victims of the Second World War .
  • 1958: Soviet war memorial and military cemetery , Berlin-Marzahn, planning together with garden architect Johannes Mielenz
    The memorial consists of an obelisk, a pergola, several steles (all made of red porphyry) and a symbolic urn made of limestone. The facility was restored in 1997/98.
