Tiefenbach is located in the Kraichgau in the valley of the Katzbach between vineyards, forest and fields. The parish of the municipality once comprised 917 hectares of land. There are currently 1,254 people living in Tiefenbach (as of December 31, 2017). The highest point in the community is the Kreuzberg at 295 meters. To the northeast of Tiefenbach, at the foot of the Kreuzberg, lies the Kreuzbergsee. In the south of the district, around the Apfelberg nature reserve, the Heitlinger Golf Resort operates a golf course (18-hole course).
Tiefenbach was first mentioned as Tiephenbach in a document from 1122 . For a long time it was owned by the knight's monastery and former monastery in Odenheim. In 1344 the sovereignty was pledged by the king to that of Sickingen. In the Peace of Lunéville (1803) Tiefenbach fell to Baden.
Tiefenbach was once an independent municipality in the district of Sinsheim and changed to Östringen in the district of Bruchsal on January 1, 1972 , before this - like the district of Sinsheim - was dissolved on January 1, 1973. Since then, Tiefenbach has been part of the Karlsruhe district together with the city of Östringen .
