The Tigris Bridge (also: On Gözlü Köprü ) near Diyarbakır leads over the Tigris and rests on ten arches. It is about three kilometers outside the city walls on the way south on the old road to Silvan . The bridge is 180 m long and 7 m wide and is made of black basalt stones. Because of the ten arches it is also known as the bridge with the ten eyes .
The arch bridge was built according to an inscription by Marwanids : on behalf of the judge Ebü'l-Hasan Abdülvâhid by an architect named Ubeyd in the years 1064-1065. The bridge is still in use and was restored in 2008.
