Tikkurila ( Swedish Dickursby ) is the district ( kaupunginosa ) number 61 of the Finnish city of Vantaa .
In addition, Tikkurila and the districts of Hakkila, Helsingin pitäjän kirkonkylä, Hiekkaharju, Jokiniemi, Koivuhaka, Kuninkaala, Ruskeasanta, Simonkylä and Viertola form the Tikkurila district, which covers an area of 23.1 km² and has around 37,000 inhabitants (as of 2010). The 1.0 km² large district is bounded by the Talvikkitie in the east and by the Ratatie and the railway line to Riihimäki in the west . This is also where the Tikkurila train station is located , where several lines of local rail transport in the Helsinki region and numerous long-distance trains stop. In the south, the Keravanjoki River forms the border with Puistola in the Helsinki metropolitan area . It is around 16 kilometers to Helsinki city center.
The Heureka Science Center, which opened in 1989, is to the east of the Tikkurila district . The Tikkurilan jäähalli ice rink (also known as Valtti-areena), home of the Kiekko-Vantaa ice hockey club, is located in the area of the neighboring Viertola to the east .
The proportion of foreigners is comparatively high at just under eleven percent. The proportion of the Swedish-speaking population was 5.6% in 1980 and only 2.8% in 2010.
