Till Zech

Till Zech (born February 2, 1966 in Hamm ) is a German professor of law with a focus on international tax law . He teaches at the Ostfalia University of Applied Sciences (Braunschweig / Wolfenbüttel).

Life

After attending school at Hammonense grammar school in Hamm, Zech passed his Abitur there in 1985. From 1985 to 1991 he studied law at the University of Osnabrück, at the Albert-Ludwigs-University in Freiburg, at the Katholieke Universiteit Nijmegen (today Radboud-Universiteit Nijmegen) in Nijmegen and at the Westphalian Wilhelms-University in Münster. He then completed a postgraduate Master of Law degree at the University of Miami in Miami, Florida. This was followed by his legal traineeship in Hamburg with stations in Amsterdam, Brussels and Cologne. He received his doctorate in 2008 from the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster with a dissertation on the tax treatment of relocations of functions . He lives with his family in Münster.

Career

In 1995, Zech was admitted to the New York State Bar as Attorney at Law, New York. After passing the second state examination, Zech worked as a lawyer from 1996 to 2001. He also founded the Academy for Law and Taxes (ARS). In 2001 he joined the financial administration of North Rhine-Westphalia as head of department. From there he moved to the Federal Finance Academy in the Federal Ministry of Finance in 2002. There he was responsible for further training in international tax law. He also taught income tax law subjects. Since the summer semester 2011, Zech has been a professor of tax law at the Faculty of Law (Brunswick European Law School (BELS)) at the Braunschweig / Wolfenbüttel University of Applied Sciences (Ostfalia University of Applied Sciences). He is the managing director of the local institute for law, finance and taxes (RFS institute). He is also a member of numerous tax law associations. In addition, he is the founder and spokesman of the IFA Regional Group Westphalia of IFA Germany eV. Since 2012 he has been working as an of counsel for the law firm HLB Dr. Schumacher & Partner, auditors, tax consultants, lawyers in Münster. He has been admitted as a tax advisor since 2014.

Others

Zech was and is active as a member of various associations and is active there in other functions and committees. From 2008 to 2011 he was a member of the supervisory board of FC Schalke 04. From 2007 to 2012 he was 2nd chairman of the Freundeskreis Nepal eV, an association that supports school projects in Nepal. Since 1997 he has been the 2nd chairman of the German-American Understanding Association, an association that supports deepening contacts between Germany and the USA by promoting exchange trips. Zech has also been working as a lecturer at the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster for the WWU further education non-profit GmbH and the Jurgrad non-profit GmbH in various master’s and qualification courses. Since 2014 he has been a board member of the German Foundation against Malnutrition (DSgME).
