The Tim Abdullah Khan is a Tim ( shopping mall ) in the Uzbek city ​​of Buxoro .

location

The Tim is located in the historic center of Buxoro directly southwest of the Abdulaziz Khan Madrasa and about 100 m south of the Toqi Zargaron . Unlike the domed bazaars (Toqi), it is not in the middle of a street crossing, but on the side of Khakikat Street.

history

The Tim Abdullah Khan was built in 1577 under Abdullah II , the later Uzbek Khan , and named after him. He was also called "Tim-i Kalon" (the great Tim). The Tim housed 59 shops for carpets and fabrics, especially silk fabrics, and among other things these goods are still offered there.

description

The Tim is built over a square floor plan with a side length of about 40 m. Its three entrances are all on the west side of the street. The large central dome rests on a drum , through the window of which light falls into the building. It is surrounded by smaller domes with slits of light.
