Tim Grüttemeier (born October 25, 1980 in Aachen ) is a German politician ( CDU ). He was mayor of the copper town of Stolberg from June 23, 2014 to December 31, 2018 and has been the city ​​council of the Aachen city region since January 1, 2019 .

education and profession

After graduating from the Ritzefeld-Gymnasium Stolberg in 2000, Grüttemeier completed civilian service at the German Red Cross district of Aachen and then began studying law at the University of Cologne , which he completed in 2006 with the first state examination in law. After his legal clerkship at the Aachen Regional Court , he passed the second state examination in law in 2008 and worked as a lawyer in an Aachen law firm from 2008 to 2014 . In 2011 he became a certified tax lawyer and in the same year received his doctorate from the University of Cologne. His admission to the bar has been suspended since he took office as mayor in June 2014.

politics

Tim Grüttemeier became a member of the Junge Union in 1996 and has been a member of the CDU since 1997. Since 2003 he has been a member of the Stolberg City Council. In 2005 he was elected chairman of the CDU Stadtverband Stolberg and in 2007 chairman of the CDU parliamentary group in the City Council of Stolberg. In 2011 he did not run again for the chairmanship of the CDU Stolberg in order to concentrate on his tasks as parliamentary group leader.

In November 2013 he was unanimously nominated by the members of the Stolberg CDU as a candidate for the mayoral election on May 25, 2014 in Stolberg. With 51.8% in the first ballot, he clearly prevailed against incumbent Ferdi Gatzweiler ( SPD ) and became full-time mayor of Stolberg (Rhineland) on June 23, 2014.

On August 29, 2018, he was elected candidate for the early election to the city ​​council of the Aachen city region on November 4, 2018 at a joint general meeting of the two CDU district associations Aachen Stadt and Aachen Land with a result of 98.1% of the votes cast .

On November 4, 2018, Grüttemeier received 39.24%, the best result of all six candidates in the election to the city council of the city region Aachen. In the runoff election on November 18, 2018, he was elected to the new municipal council until 2025 with 52.59% against Daniela Jansen (SPD).

Tim Grüttemeier has been married to Nina Grüttemeier since 2006 and has two sons.
