Timbuk 3

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Timbuk 3 was an American band that was founded in 1986 in Austin , Texas and initially only consisted of the couple Pat MacDonald and Barbara K. MacDonald (born October 4, 1958 in Wausau , Wisconsin ).

history

Initially, the duo played supported by their own recordings of the accompanying tracks, which were played by a large ghetto blaster . In 1991 Wally Ingram and Courtney Audain joined the band. Timbuk 3 recorded a number of albums between 1986 and 1995, of which the first album "Greetings From Timbuk 3" produced the hit parade song "The Future's So Bright I Gotta Wear Shades".

The band name is a modification of a word game very well known in the Anglophone world with the name of the city of Timbuktu , which is spoken like "Timbuk Two" and can therefore also be jokingly regarded as the name of a duo.

The band broke up in 1995 and the band members released individual solo projects.
