Time Spent Driving is an emo band from Santa Cruz , California, founded in 1999 and strongly influenced by indie rock .
history
The group was founded in 1999 in Santa Cruz , California , USA . Time Spent Driving signed with Unfun Records which also acted as concert management for the group. In November 2000 the band released their EP Walls Between Us . Shortly before that, an EP with three tracks was released, which made the label aware of the group.
Shortly after the EP was released, a European tour followed, including performances in Germany . The band was accompanied by Favez and The Stereo , among others . The group signed with Sessions Records , who released the EP again with different artwork. In Germany, the EP was released on record on Chestnut Café Records in January 2002. In October and November 2001, the group toured the US with Favez and Scott Ritcher . A 3-way split with the participating artists on the tour was released via Doghouse Records . Before that, Time Spent Driving only played along the west coast .
On May 7, 2002, the debut album Just Enough Bright was released via Sessions Records. It was produced by J. Robbins . The album was recorded at the Tiny Telephone in San Francisco . The group toured the west coast again to promote their album. A few tracks from the album were made known nationally by MTV . In 2003 the group announced a break of unknown length. In 2005 the band announced they were going to split up. In the meantime, the group had written seven pieces for a second album. This was released in June 2007 via Lorelei Records . It's called I'm Your Stab in the Back . The musicians announced that the group would be "revived" in 2012. The comeback album called Passed & Presence is slated for release on July 21, 2015 via Cardigan Records .
The group currently consists of Jon Cattivera ( vocals , electric guitar ), Jonas Davidson ( electric bass ), Dustin Roth ( drums ), David Cattivera ( piano , keyboard ) and Steve Borella (electric guitar)
