Time on task

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Time on Task is a pedagogical term and describes the time in which the learners deal with the subject matter. This so-called "real" learning time is seen as the most important predictor for learning success.

description

The time on task differs per class and teacher. A high proportion of effective learning time is an indicator of good classroom management on the part of the teacher. In order to achieve this goal every day in the classroom , the active learning time should be used intensively and productively by both the teacher and the learners, so that the effective learning time is increased.

A well-organized and structured class management of the teacher, which includes norms such as punctual start of lessons, well-prepared lessons, targeted support for the weaker as well as focused learning goals, supports the optimization of the time on task, so that the work results of the students are given tasks and can also correspond.

According to Weinstein and Mignano, the official school time of every student is subdivided into total school time, attendance time, active learning time, employment time with task and effective learning time. The active learning time denotes the teaching time without breaks, the employment time with task the active learning time, from which the times without employment with task have already been deducted, and the effective learning time, which represents the active learning time for tasks that promote learning - i.e. the time defined above on task.
