Timo Behn

Timo Behn (* 1973 in Jena ) is a German visual artist .

Career

Timo Behn was born in Jena in 1973. After the fall of the Berlin Wall , he moved to Bavaria. From 2001 he studied fine arts at the Academy of Fine Arts in Nuremberg , where he completed his studies as a master student of Ottmar Hörl in 2007.

Timo Behn's paintings can be formally divided into two categories according to their motifs: the figurative work and the abstract work, which often thematizes an antagonism between exact geometrical form and deconstructing, dissecting processing of the surfaces.

Behn mainly works in large formats (2 m × 2.8 m), with small formats (from 20 × 30 cm) often in series of works, as shown in Basel in 2012.

Variations on the themes of his abstract painting are predominant in Behn's sculptural work. In the exhibition “5 minutes before fear” in Berlin, he showed a walk-in labyrinth that consisted of shapes and passages similar to works from his series The Great Screeching, which was on view at art cologne that same year .
