Timo von Gunten

Timo von Gunten (born December 15, 1989 in Zurich ) is a Swiss director and screenwriter.

Von Gunten successfully completed his Matura with a focus on music at the canton school Küsnacht ZH at the age of 18 . While still at school, he won numerous film prizes, including 1st prize at the NaturTalent Festival in Basel . This film was also selected for the Swiss Youth Film Festival. In 2006 von Gunten won 3rd prize at the NaturTalent Festival with the film A Breathtaking Breakfast . His Matura film Sequi , which depicts the story of a young person who gets into a sect, was selected and exhibited in 2008 as one of the best 50 Matura theses. In 2008, together with Phil Anderegg , he shot volume 2Gether, the largest film musical ever made by a Swiss youth.

His work Die Frau und der Schnellzug (La femme et le TVG) won the Swiss Film Prize in 2017 and was nominated for an Oscar for best short film .
