Tindisch or Tindi (No. 22) in the environment of the Northeast Caucasian language family

Tindic is the language of the people of Tindi . It is spoken by around 5,000–6,000 people in several Aulen (villages) of the Zumada Rajon in western Bergdagestan near Georgia and Chechnya : in Tindi, Angida, Aknada, Etscheda and Tissi.

There is no self-designation of the speakers for their language; the inhabitants name themselves after their respective aul . The Tindic speakers are all bilingual and speak Avar as well as Tindic . An alphabet based on Cyrillic was developed.
