Tineius Longus

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Tineius Longus (his praenomen is not known) was a member of the Roman knighthood ( Eques ) who lived in the 2nd century AD and rose to the rank of senator.

A dedicatory inscription found at Fort Condercum and dated 177/184 shows that Longus was Praefectus equitum . According to John EH Spaul and Margaret M. Roxan , he was believed to have been prefect of the Ala I Hispanorum Asturum , based in the province of Britannia . The inscription shows that Longus was accepted as a future quaestor in the senatorial class.
