Titii sodales

The Titii sodales , also Sodales Titii , were an ancient cult community that belonged to the Tities , the second of the original Roman tribes and, according to legendary tradition, either from the Sabine king Titus Tatius to practice the traditional Sabine cult forms or from Romulus in honor of the deified Titus had been established. It is also said that the Titii sodales practiced a special form of bird watching. The priestly community no longer appears during the republic and only becomes under emperorAugustus renewed, where they are also called Titienses or Sacerdotes Titiales Flaviales . Augustus himself was a member of the Titii sodales . Almost nothing is known about their rituals; they may have served as models for other cult communities who later practiced the imperial cult .
